How to pay safely — and what to avoid.
What's this for? Sabong Market is a peer-to-peer marketplace. We don't process payments — deals are settled directly between buyer and seller at the meetup. Understanding how payments work keeps you safe from scams.
Accepted Payment Methods
- Cash on meetup — the safest and most recommended method. Pay in person after inspecting the bird
- Cash on delivery (COD) — for sellers who offer delivery, pay when the bird arrives
- GCash — only after meeting in person and confirming the bird is as described
- Bank transfer — only after meeting in person and confirming the bird is as described
Never pay in advance. Do not send GCash, bank transfers, or any payment before meeting the seller in person and inspecting the bird. Advance payment is the #1 method used by scammers.
Safe Payment Tips
- Always meet in a public place before paying
- Inspect the bird thoroughly before handing over money
- If a seller insists on advance payment, that's a red flag — do not proceed
- Use the in-app transaction system to create a formal record of your deal
- Upload a proof photo after paying to complete the transaction
